Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

- Old Business:
- CNP Review From October 28-29, 1019, The Board discussed the findings, and noted that the findings were mostly in house issues that have been corrected on site.
- Faculty Development
- Student Support Institute Conference was attended by Ms. Lynch and Mrs. Cutler on September 30, 2019, it was very educational and informative and both returned with ideas that would be beneficial to our Academy.
- International Reading Association Conference (IRA) – was attended by Mrs. Broadway and Ms. Hollins on October 9-11, 2019, both received valuable information and educational tools.
- Association of Middle Level Educators (AMLE)-The attendees for this conference would be Dr. Miller, Ms. Payne, Ms. Kline, and Ms. Hollins, they will be leaving tomorrow, November 6, 2019, going to Nashville, Tennessee. They will return on Saturday. Updates will be provided upon return.
- CPA- Dewitt and Ginger: New Vision has retained Dewitt and Ginger as the new CPA firm. They come to the school site on Wednesdays and Thursdays currently and Ms. Tomeka assists with all training needed in this matter.
- Earth Balloon: Visited by the students and very educational. Students really enjoyed this learning experience.
- Red Ribbon Week was October 28-November 1, 2019, and was a success it was facilitated by Mr. Hunter.
- New Business
- Activities
- Children’s Museum: Children ages PreK-2 went on October 13, 2019, and met stuffy the oversized doll.
- Grandparents Day and Thanksgiving Lunch: Will be held November 20, 2019, starting at 10:30.
- Science Fair: was held Thursday and each child was asked to participate. It mostly consisted of 3rd thru 6th grades. The Judges were from the community and this created more community and parent involvement.
- Teacher In-service: November 15, 2019, will be the in-service date. The school has adopted two (2) new curriculums. Into Math and Into Social Studies. The pros associated with these two curriculums were discussed with the Board Members
- Thanksgiving Holiday: November 25-29, 2019- Students will attend a Production by OCS School as a field Trip. The production is entitled: Once Upon an Ogre.
- Activities
- Closing Statements: Members issued statements of commendations.
- Adjournment: Moved to Adjourn by Damion Green and Seconded by Anita Mack.
- Next Meeting: November 20, 2019, at 12:30 PM.
