Board of Directors Meeting Minutes
May 2, 2019
- Call to Order – by President Danny Hunt. In attendance – Dr. Andrea’ Miller, Linda Smith-Britton, Sheila Grayson, Rod Washington, and Anita Tenant-Mack.
- Invocation – Rod Washington
- Old Business
- Annual Site Review- Ms. Price (Dept. of Education) annual site review. No findings. Suggestions – additional computer programs to help facilitate the growth of the lower performing students and advanced students. Ms. Lynch spoke with her in more detail about the referred program.
- Curriculum Adoption
- Math – GO MATH has been adopted. Better aligned for Eureka curriculum (LEAP Test). Kept Saxson math as well (good for fundamentals for lower grades).
- Test Schedule – coming to an end this week. Started around the 1st of April. Some computerized, some hand test. No testing infractions. Once little girl had to be removed from the testing environment on Monday and Tuesday. She did makeups on Wednesday.

- Remaining School Calendar• upcoming events shared through May 21 (K) and May 23 (6th Grade) 6 pm graduations. SEE Activities listed at end of notes.
- Open Enrollment 2019-2020 – going well. Will send acceptance letters starting week after next.
- Summer Program – Will do a 5-week program that will run June 10 – July 12. Applications coming in already, even for those interested in Summer only.
- After School Program – ended April 30.
- Saturday Academy – ended April 27.
- National Junior Beta Club Convention June 15-18, 2019 Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Ramelle received a golden ticket to compete in Speech.
- Personnel
- Tamekia Moten – Was part-time. We anticipate moving her to full-time (per Board approval). Position would be Assistant Administrative = technology lab, school reports, EEOC data. 2nd layer of eyes on the IEP data that is being recorded. It was moved by Linda SmithBritton and 2nd by Anita Tenant-Mack to approve moving Tamekia Moten to this desired fulltime position. The vote was unanimous.
- Patti Dupont – this is her last year. Retiring May 31. She taught 1st grade and 4h grade. She did the math lab last year (scores increased significantly).

- 2019 National Early Childhood Inclusion Institute (Pre-K Teachers attending) Chapel Hill, NC May 7-9, 2019 Joanne Montgomery and Carolyn Jefferson
- 2019 Tacher Leader Summit June 25-28, 2019 New Orleans, LA
Percille Broadway (Social Studies), Erika Payne (Math), Tamekia Moten (Reporting/ADMN) Votika Lynch (Special Education) and Dawn Cutler (ELA). It has been free for past 5-years or so. However, we have to pay this year. Since all teach/work during summer school, we will have to find subs to carry their classrooms/responsibilities while they are gone. - Activities
